The key takeaways from these and other studies are that people form first impressions very quickly based solely on appearance, and that these first impressions persist over time and aren’t changed easily.

Any people shown in marketing images should look trustworthy. On the Web, home pages and common landing pages merit particular scrutingy. Faces should be smiling (though not necessarily too much) and non-threatening.
